This is set 15 years into the future of Naruto, and the canon characters are still alive, just older.

The world of a shinobi is a dog-eat-dog world, so you're on your own. Loyalty is relative, and friendship is hard to maintain. This is true for every shinobi, regardless of their nation of origin or special abilities. Missions are a regular occurrence, taking the shinobi out of their village and into the world to accomplish objectives. Sometimes they are east, like escorting a young woman to her home. Sometimes, however, they are nearly impossible, like stealing a secret ninja scroll from an enemy village. The primary objective in any mission, though, is to stay alive. A shinobi faces death almost every day. Life isn't all problems, though. Shinobi fall in love, marry and even have kids. The occasional assassination doesn't dampen their spirits. But what if several years after Sasuke left for Orochimaru, things took a turn for the worst?

The Akatsuki, usually staying discreet and in the shadows, have come out into the open, using jutsus that disguise them as others to complete missions for their leader. But, for one night, Deidara was in Konoha, disguised as a young ninja, and he went to the Hokage's office under orders by a jonin. It was a shame that that jonin didn't see pass the Akatsuki member's disguise, because that night...
